EIB president Calviño to visit Greece to discuss new investment initiatives
The President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Nadia Calviño will visit Athens on Thursday, 21 November, to discuss with government officials new investment initiatives aimed at supporting the Greek economy.
This marks Calviño’s first official visit to Greece as EIB Group President. Her agenda includes meetings with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Minister of Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis to explore shared priorities for boosting economic resilience and fostering sustainable growth.
Calviño is also expected to visit the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, where Minister Vassilis Kikilias will guide her through the Business Management Centre, partially funded by the EIB.
According to an EIB briefing, recent agreements in Greece include support for the modernisation of water management and transport infrastructure. Future priorities focus on affordable and sustainable housing, climate action, energy investments, and facilitating access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. Since 1963, the EIB has invested nearly 50 billion euros in Greece, advancing economic growth, social cohesion and the quality of life for citizens.
