The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou visits the Officers’ Club of the Guard of Thessaloniki, where she attended a lunch, in the framework of the celebrations of the Anniversaries of October 26, 1912, the day of the liberation of the city from the Turkish yoke, the feast of the Patron Saint Demetrios and October 28, 1940, on Saturday, October 26, 2024.APROBE/PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC/THODORIS MANOLOPOULOS




The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Saturday attended the official liturgy for the patron Saint (St. Dimitrios) and the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Thessaloniki.

After the liturgy, Sakellaropoulou stated “Thessaloniki celebrates today its patron saint, Saint Dimitrios, and with him the anniversary of its liberation from the Ottoman Rule. On this day, all Greeks, with faith in the timeless values of our long history, we honour those who gave their lives for the integration of Macedonia with Greece. Their memory is a source of inspiration and pride”.
