Voting for a new PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader began at 950 voting centers throughout Greece at 7:00 am on Sunday.
It will end at 7:00 pm unless the party’s electoral committee (EDEKAP) decides to extend voting if there is a significant number of voters in Athens and Thessaloniki still waiting in line.
According to EDEKAP, some 65,671 members and friends of the party had voted in Greece up to 11:00 am. Party officials said that if the rate of voting continues until closing time, the number of those who voted will exceed 270,000, the number of voters during the party’s last internal elections in 2021.
Candidates for party leadership are listed alphabetically on the ballots, and they are as follows: party’s electoral committee.
In order to become party president, a candidate needs 50+1 votes. If no candidate gets this number of votes today, a second round of voting will take place between the top two candidates next Sunday (Oct. 13).
The voting results are expected to be announced after 9:00 pm.
