The SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Congress is fully empowered to either revoke or ratify the decisions of the Central Committee, the press office of Stefanos Kasselakis stressed on Monday, in response to what it called a “Stalinist” announcement by the party’s press office.

“With today’s announcement, SYRIZA’s press office speaks of a supposedly ‘irrevocable’ decision regarding the barring of Mr. Kasselakis’ candidacy. Let us recollect that article 20 of the statutes is clear and not open to dispute. The Congress has every power, as the supreme organ, to reject or to ratify all the decisions of the Central Commitee, according to article 20, paragraph 1 and 2 of the party statutes,” the announcement said.
