Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting in NY focuses on bilateral relations and migration

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.

Mitsotakis and Erdogan reviewed the progress in political dialogue and the positive agenda. They agreed to intensify cooperation on migration in the coming period, aiming to dismantle smuggling networks that endanger lives.

Additionally, they tasked the foreign ministers of both countries, George Gerapetritis and Hakan Fidan, with preparing for the next Supreme Council for Cooperation between Greece and Türkiye, scheduled to take place in Ankara in January 2025, based on the Athens Declaration.
