SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance deputy Athina Linou has been expelled from the party’s parliamentary group, party leader Stefanos Kasselakis announced in social media on Wednesday.
In addition, the main opposition leader said, he had requested her resignation in order to keep the parliamentary seat in the party. He said his decision related to the inadequate explanations the epidemiologist gave over the Prolepsis Institute that she founded.
“We have been looking for Athena Linou all day to request that she resign and relinquish her seat, assisting the party. Her colleagues have been informed. She is not responding,” he added, which led to her expulsion.
Earlier in the day, new parliamentary group head Nikos Pappas presented Parliament President Constantine Tassoulas with a letter expelling her from the gorup.
