“I told you and I meant it. I came to stay, so that together we can make the progressive party a majority in country once again,” main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis said in a social media post on Tuesday.

He said that he had received many messages urging him to “not give up”, or telling him “Do not betray us,” and “We believed again”.

“We are now building the progressive excellence that is needed in Greece – and now also in Europe. So, we are preparing starting from now. We are moving resolutely forward,” he added.

Kasselakis thanked the thousands of voters and volunteers “who kept us afloat against the unspecified millions of New Democracy,” adding:

“The 23 percent became 13 percent with the new generation by our side. We continue and we will become majority soon”.
