Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias announced through a post on his personal account on “X” that the construction of the “Giannis Antetokounmpo” basketball court is underway in Ghana, at the Greek school of Agios Nikolaos in Tema, under the auspices of the Greek government.

“It will be my great pleasure to see children playing basketball again on this court when I visit Ghana,” he said.

Dendias, in his post, includes an aerial photograph of the court. It is noted that Dendias had visited the Greek school in Tema on December 5, 2023, where he had promised that the construction of the “Giannis Antetokounmpo” court would be completed so that children could play basketball and then a soccer field would be built. Work began in March 2023 and installation is expected to be completed soon.
