President Recep Erdogan of Turkey, with a failing economy and anti-semitic foreign policy, decided to turn on the public relations charm in Athens! His main objective is to win support in the United States Congress for his desire to purchase the F16 fighter jets and to be reinstated in the F35 program.
Turkish troops are expanding the occupation into Famagusta in violation of UN Resolutions and he is still demanding a two-state solution. Mr. Erdogan is a master of deception; every move is calculated with precision! The charm in Greece will last for a few months while the pressure eases from his anti-Israel campaign!
With Senator Robert Menendez out as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he calculated that charming Greece is a way to win votes in the United States Congress! The violations of UN Resolutions continue in Cyprus, the blackmail of NATO for membership of Sweden has not changed and his failure to comply with sanctions against Russia is hurting Ukraine!
In politics, timing is everything! Charming Greece is part of his policy of deception. We urge the United States Congress to continue the pressure and demand real action on Cyprus.
