The remains of yet another person was identified on Saturday, raising the number of identified bodies at the Tempi train crash to 55, said the Hellenic Police on the day.

Furthermore, the police noted that two samples of biological material provided by victims’ relatives do not yet match a body, therefore it is possible that the final number of victims may vary slightly, it was explained.

Additionally, another biological sample was sent to the DNA forensics labs from the crash site by the Fire Brigade; specifically, this is a body part recovered during the removal of the freight train’s engine on Friday night.

Operations at the crash site have entered the final stage after the removal of both trains’ engines, that was delayed due to heavy rain, said the Fire Brigade. After a final sweep of a 500-square-meters area gets underway, the conclusion of the search operation will be announced, it was explained.
