Greek inflation dropped to 9% in November from 12.1% in September, reaching one percentage point below the average of the Eurozone, and lower than other countries such as Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Holland, and Austria, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Sunday, in his weekly post on social media.

Despite the improvement, he acknowledged that the economy still placed a lot of pressure on disposable income, following the rise of the cost of living from energy prices and supermarket goods, putting the government’s top priority on supporting society.

The long-term crisis followed by the pandemic has left the health system weaker, and required a raise in doctors’ salaries to ensure that they do not continue to leave the public sector for private practice, Mitsotakis said, speaking of a related bill in Parliament.

The prime minister referred to more accomplishments in the week that passed, including the posting for public consultation of a plan to help younger people find more affordable homes, the ability to apply for and receive a license for political marriage within seven days, a draft bill to establish a judges school, and roadworks, particularly the drop in tolls included in the new concession for Attiki Odos.
