Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the inauguration of 18 intensive care unit beds at the “Georgios Papanikolaou” General Hospital in Thessaloniki on Saturday.

The ICU beds were donated by the “Greece 2021” Committee.

It was also noted that public hospitals in Thessaloniki had 80 ICU beds before the pandemic but now they have 199.

The premier also urged anew the country’s older citizens to book their available inoculation appointments and overcome their reluctance about vaccination.

“From the first moment, ‘Greece 2021’ has been committed to society’s needs at this critical juncture, and it also adapted its commemorative activity to new data that emerged from the pandemic,” said “Greece 2021” committee president Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, speaking alongside the premier.

Mitsotakis was also accompanied by Alternate Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis.
