Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday chaired an emergency meeting with the health ministry’s leadership to discuss the epidemiological situation in Attica and the rest of the country.

It ended with a decision to convene a meeting of the pandemic experts’ committee on Wednesday morning to evaluate the situation throughout Greece. Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias will then present the plans for reinforcing the national health system, especially in Attica, during the Wednesday evening press briefing.

During Tuesday’s meeting, there was a presentation of the epidemiological data from all regions of the country and a discussion of the effect of new variants to the transmission of the virus.

They also examined measures to further strengthen the national health system, especially in Attica where the pressure on the system is highest, and ways to make implementation of measures to prevent the spread of the virus more effective.
