Democracy “cannot be terrorised or blackmailed”, government spokesperson Christo Tarantilis said on Tuesday, condemning the attack targeting the house of President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou in Metaxourgeio, Athens.
“The target today of the hoodlums, supporters of Dimitris Koufodinas who has been convicted for 11 murders, was the residence of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, where they tossed flyers and shouted out slogans,” Tarantilis said in an announcement.
“They should know that in Greece, the rule of law prevails. If they think that through such actions they will terrorise anyone, they are wrong. Democracy cannot be either terrorised or blackmailed,” he added.
