SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras on Sunday spoke on the phone with the general director of the World Health Organisation Tedros Adhanom.
In a post on the social media, the main opposition leader said that they discussed the need for the international community to manage the vaccine as a world public good. “I expressed my concern over the course of vaccinations and on the fact that the entire humanity is hanging by the business plans of a handful of companies.
Finally, he said that “Dr. Tedros Adhanom noted that he supports the initiative for the patents and the creation of a tank of patents in order for the faster and higher production of vaccines. We agreed that on this basis, EU should cooperate with WHO to more effectively support the COVAX initiative for equal and total access to the vaccines”.
