A parliament plenary on a motion of censure tabled on Friday by main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras and 85 MPs of the party against Finance Minister Christos Staikouras continues on Sunday and will be completed with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ speech followed by a vote.

The main opposition leader tabled the motion during a debate in parliament’s plenary on a bill containing a new bankruptcy code for both businesses and private individuals, including regulations on home owners who have defaulted on their debts.

The government rejects the motion of censure and is blaming SYRIZA for abolishing the protection of primary residences during their governance.

Party leaders are expected to address the plenary on Sunday. Mitsotakis will be wrapping up the debate on Sunday night before a vote.
