Rapid Covid-19 tests on asylum seekers at new Kara Tepe camp return 243 positive results

National Public Health Organisation teams have carried out a total of 7,064 rapid tests for COVID-19 at the new temporary hosting facilty for migrants and refugees at Kara Tepe on the island of Lesvos. Of these, 243 have so far come back positive (3.44 pct of the total), Greek authorities announced on Monday.

The tests were conducted between September 12-20, with 128 cases concerning men (52.7 pct), who had a median age of 24.

Additionally 40 members of non-governmental organisations and 120 police officers working at the facility were tested and all found to be negative for Covid-19.
