BRUSSELS (ANA/ E. Zarkadoula) — European Commission spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Peter Stano on Tuesday sent a clear message to Turkey and of solidarity with Greece and Cyprus at his briefing to the press and underlined that the EU foreign ministers were clear on the consequences if Turkey does not change its behaviour.

“The EU’s message was clear in terms of solidarity with Greece and Cyprus and it was also clear regarding what we expect from Turkey so that there is a de-escalation”.

At the same time, he said that they were clear about the timetables and by when they expect Turkey to change its behaviour, as well as being clear about the consequences if Turkey does not change its stance, which supports the escalation of the tension in the Eastern Mediterranean. The message was clear, the timetables are clear and, of course, the measures are clear and we expect that they will be taken into account by our partners and friends and to start operating accordingly and not be necessary to proceed to the alternative way of the restriction measures.
