“Greece has sent Turkey a message in the sea and in the air and also sent it at Evros last February that we are not playing,” Alternate Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis said .
“We have the strength to reply decisively to every Turkish challenge,” he said in an interview with SKAI television on Saturday, while noting that Greece was not the one provoking.
Commenting on the outcome of the informal EU foreign ministers’ meeting on Friday, he said that Europe was standing at Greece’s side, with a framework of sanctions in the face of Turkish provocativeness being a good basis for a discussion on the level of leaders.
“Turkey must get the message from Brussels that its relations will not continue to be good if it continues this provocative stance,” he added.
He also noted that Turkey was now in state of international isolation, especially after the Turkish president’s contacts with Hamas, an organisation that both the EU and US view as a terrorist group.
