UK government launches info campaign for British nationals in Greece

The United Kingdom government’s Foreign Office launched an information campaign to support and advise British nationals living in Greece on steps to protect their rights after the Brexit transition period ends on 31 December, as part of a wider effort addressed to more than a million nationals across the European Union.
As part of its support, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Friday it will also “offer assistance to those UK nationals who may struggle to complete residency or registration applications through a 3-million-pound support fund.”
“UK nationals living in Greece will receive information about specific actions they need to take to keep their rights and access to services in Greece,” it said, and will use several channels – including Facebook, digital media and Greek newspaper ads – urging people to act and protect their rights in Europe.
In addition to this major information campaign, the British Embassy in Athens has already been working with community groups and UK nationals directly to inform and reassure them, the Foreign Office said, including “providing information and support through town hall information meetings and question and answer sessions with ambassadors and consular experts.”
“Protecting the rights of UK nationals is an absolute priority for us,” British Ambassador to Greece Kate Smith said. “Brits in Greece should visit our Living in Greece guide (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-greece), where they can find out about the steps they need to take and get important information about residency, healthcare, passports and driving licences in Greece.”
