The draft law on public protests guarantees the citizens’ right to demonstrate but also the smooth operation of the city and of the citizens’ protection” underlined Interior Minister Takis Theodorikakos in an interview with MEGA TV on Saturday.

“Demonstration is a democratic right but it must be held without disturbing the order and the safety” he noted.

On the restart of the economy, Theodorikakos said that the Interior Ministry plays an important role with the implementation of “Antonis Tritsis” programme of 2. billion euros which will create 40,000 job positions in the private sector.

Referring to the investment at former International Airport of Helliniko, he said that five years were lost due to the former government’s obsession. “Things now are speeding up and Helliniko will become a pole of attraction for millions of tourists” Theodorikakos said.

On the Interior Ministry’ s bill on citizenship, he said that foreign nationals will have to pass nationwide examinations that will be held twice a year. This system puts an end to an inefficient system of rendering Greek citizenship, while strengthening the transparency of the system.
