Large-scale coronavirus testing around Xanthi: Spate of new cases

Large-scale testing for coronavirus on all residents of municipalities in the regional unit of Xanthi are to begin on Thursday, following a spate of new cases in the area.

The decision was made during a virtual meeting held on Wednesday between Xanthi regional governor Christos Metios, Deputy Civil Protection Minister Nikos Hardalias, health ministry advisor for the pandemic Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, National Organisation for Public Health President Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, Xanthi Mayor Manolis Tsepelis and Myki Mayor Deli Hussein Ritvan.

During the video conference, the epidemiological course of the city of Xanthi and neighbouring municipalities of the regional unit were discussed, including the new cases recorded in the area. Thus, it was decided NOPH teams and representatives of the civil protection agency will go to Xanthi between June 4 and June 6 to collect samples and carry out tests.
