“We want our works to do the talking, not our words. We want to be judged by our results and not our pre-election promises,” stated Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday, during his meeting with the regional governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
Referring to his visit to Thessaloniki, the first official visit after the end of the Covid-19 lockdown, he said he chose the city and the region of Macedonia to inspect the progress in the implementation of works initiated by the government, which wants to adhere to the set schedules, even if public health has been the top priority in the last three months.
Mitsotakis thanked Tzitzikostas and all the people working in Thessaloniki’s local government for their efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus in Greece.
On his part, Tzitzikostas described Mitsotakis as the prime minister of deeds and not words.
The meeting was held at the new headquarters of the region of Central Macedonia that was inaugurated in 2018.
The government aims to continue the developmental boom
Continuing on the path of a developmental boom with public, private and public-private partnerships (PPPs) is the government’s goal, after the successful management of the first phase of the coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Tuesday in a meeting with the mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas.
Mitsotakis expressed hope that there will be no second round of the pandemic, however he appealed to the citizens to not be complacent or neglect the rules for protection against the virus but continue to observe them, avoiding crowds.
On his part, Zervas told the prime minister that Thessaloniki’s “patient zero” in the pandemic was actually within the municipal council of Thessaloniki and that the town hall was the first building disinfected in Greece, adding that Thessaloniki had done well because there was the necessary preparation.
Mitsotakis reassured the people of Thessaloniki that the major developmental projects in the city had not stopped for a single minute, not even during the pandemic, and that they will be completed on schedule.
Zervas said that Thessaloniki was “turning a page” and described Mitsotakis as “the prime minister of works.”

He made the promise during meetings with the governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and the mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas.
The governor and the mayor stressed the great importance of road tourism for Thessaloniki and Macedonia in general, and Tzitzikostas said that 10,000,000 tourists arrive by road.
