Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis presented the basic principles and guidelines of the social security bill in a meeting of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen.

emploAccording to the minister, it is a bill with a social orientation and a strong growth mentality and perspective.

As he said, the new social security reform will help increase employment, boost entrepreneurship and reduce tax evasion, while re-building insurance awareness. He stressed that the draft law is being submitted along with two important studies.

The Athens University of Economics has prepared a special scientific study on pension adequacy, while stressing that the actuarial study accompanying it guarantees the viability of the social security system by 2070 and the safeguarding of all pensions. Based on the actuarial study, he explained, the country’s pension expenditure as a percentage of GDP will soon reach the average of European countries’ pension expenditure.

Vroutsis underlined that a stable social system is being developed with all pensions guaranteed while announcing further increases in pensions.
