Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that “the general outlook for the country right now is very positive and we will take advantage of that both geopolitically and economically,” when asked by reporters about how Greece was perceived at the 2020 World Economic Forum at Davos.

“Everyone credits Greece with facing a ten-year crisis with enormous institutional maturity,” he said, adding that in many of his meetings reference was made to Greece’s first female president-elect, Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou. “It made a great impression,” he said.

Mitsotakis was asked about the German Parliament’s legal service opinion that the Turkey-Libya memoranda on maritime zones violated international law. “At first reading I can tell you that it fully supports the legality of Greek positions and I no longer think there is any doubt as to the legal dimension of this issue,” the premier said, adding that “the issue’s political aspect has already been dealt with by the conclusions of the EU Summit. ”

Speaking on climate change, Mitsotakis noted that there was a clear understanding that policies to tackle climate change were urgently relevant to the present. He added, “Greece is at the forefront, with an ambitious agenda to transform its own development model, which is a great opportunity for the country.”
