SYRIZA President Alexis Tsipras met with the U.S. State Department’s Acting Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip T. Reeker in Athens.
Greece must retain its role as a fundamental pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans, as well as a regional energy hub, main opposition SYRIZA President Alexis Tsipras said on Monday, during a meeting with the U.S. State Department’s Acting Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip T. Reeker.
Tsipras noted that the region’s future can only be built on the foundations of international law and mutual respect.
In this context, he stressed the need for steady and clear messages from the United States that Turkish aggressiveness in the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone and the Aegean must cease.
Reeker is currently in Greece for the first leg of a tour that also includes North Macedonia.
