Greek ports ready to welcome the millions of tourists expected, Shipping Min Kouvelis states

Shipping Minister Fotis Kouvelis said on Tuesday that the ministry has made all the necessary preparations to ensure the safe arrival and departure of tourists that visit and travel in Greece via cruise or ferry routes.

  • He explained that the funds from the Public Revenues Programme had quadrupled during the current year for the financing of 94 new and 59 continuing projects to repair damages, improve the functioning and address safety problems in dozens of small or large ports in Greece.

Kouvelis also said that the Coast Guard, the port authorities and the port stations are adequately staffed mostly in areas with high tourist traffic and noted that the responsible agencies continue inspections for safe navigation and protection of the sea.
