The business forum held on Tuesday in Skopje during the visit of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is a bridge for the businessmen of the two countries, the vice-president of North Macedonia’s Economic Chamber Minco Jordanov said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

  • He noted, however, that “we should go beyond words and move directly into actions and partnerships.”
“I am very positive about the business forum. I see this as a bridge between the entrepreneurs of the two countries but this is just an opportunity and the beginning of cooperation between the two sides. We should use this bridge rather than just stick to words, just to say there is an opportunity for cooperation. We have to give ‘flesh and bones’ to this cooperation and to this tremendous momentum that is developing in the relations of the two countries,” he underlined.

He also stressed that he has “a very specific position and point of view regarding cooperation” and explained: “when we start to work in the Balkan region, we will all become wealthier. Neighbours are or should be the best partners for every business and entrepreneur.”

  • Asked about the issue of trademarks and designations and whether it is possible to resolve it, Jordanov stressed: “Of course, it can be resolved and I believe it must be resolved on the basis of international rules. There is a clear framework on how and what can be used in relation to trademarks and designations. I believe that this issue needs to be resolved, become clear and you should not worry that it could affect the economy of either party.”

Regarding the sectors where he believes that there could be partnerships and investment opportunities for the Greek companies that intend to invest in North Macedonia, Jordanov gave as an example the agricultural sector, energy, construction and others.
