Greek households’ and non-profit organisations’ available income up 1.7 pct in Q4 2018




Available income for Greek households and non-profit organisations grew 1.7 pct to 30.2 billion euros in the fourth quarter of 2018, compared with the corresponding period in 2017, while final consumption spending rose 1.4 pct to 31.3 billion euros in the same period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said in a report released on Wednesday.

The statistics service said that the savings rate (gross savings/gross available income) was -3.9 pct in the fourth quarter of 2018 from -4.2 pct in the same period in 2017.

Gross fixed-capital investments (private investments) in the non-financial sector totaled 2.1 billion euros, while the general government’s net borrowing was 0.1 billion euros from 0.4 billion in the same period in 2017.

The external trade balance in goods and services recorded a deficit of 1.8 billion euros, down from a shortfall of 2.0 billion euros recorded in the same period in 2017, while the external balance of primary incomes, current and capital transfers recorded a surplus of 1.3 billion euros in the fourth quarter of 2018 from a surplus of 1.2 billion in 2017.
