Agreements with North Macedonia bring multiple benefits for Greece, says Minister Rigas




Alternate Defence Minister Panos Rigas on Wednesday estimated that a new story is being formed, another conception in the Balkans (for Greece) speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency “Praktoreio 104.9FM” at a question on the agreement for the assumption of North Macedonia’s aerial space by Greece, the education and transfer of knowhow to the armed forces of the neighbouring country.

  • “We have already responsible for the aerial space of other countries through the existing procedures and this because the specific countries can’t do it by themselves. This means that they trust us and trust our consistent stance to contribute for peace in the region. After the agreement, Greece assumes the responsibility of North Macedonia’s aerial space also” noted Rigas.

In parallel, he noted that a procedure is launched through the agreements which were concluded on Tuesday with the memoranda of cooperation also in the field of education from Greece “which refers to the military schools and their military training (in North Macedonia) and this is very important”.

Rigas said that the Greek armed forces are deeply peace-loving and deeply soical and return to the Greek society and to the Greeks the support they take from them. “In many areas of the country we respond not only in cases of disaster but also to social issues which the state , in many cases, could not address or needed immediate and rapid solutions” he said.
