Positive agenda with respect to international law, Katrougalos says: Meeting with Cavusoglu

The two countries can give an example of peaceful coexistence with respect to the international law, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos said in his joint statements with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya.

We decided to move on to the positive agenda, Katrougalos added.

We must overcome together the challenges we are facing and take advantage together of the opportunities in the region, said Cavusoglu.

  • “We do not believe in the war of civilizations. We believe that relations between the peoples should be characterized by mutual respect and that relations between states must be based on the international law, the multilateral system of international institutions,” he underlined.
  • “We are here to promote the positive agenda as agreed by our two leaders a few while ago in Ankara” and sent the message that the two countries can become an example of how peaceful coexistence can be achieved while respecting the rules of international law, Katrougalos stressed.

In this context, he noted that “a part of the positive agenda is how to guarantee the respect to the international law, the de-escalation of tension in our region through the implementation of the agreed measures of trust by reviewing their better implementation.”

The Foreign Minister made clear that the measure of harmonious coexistence between states is provided by the international law.
