Ministers’ Council satisfied with coming into force of Prespes Agreement, said Mogherini

“I hope and believe that it will be good to start accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, jointly, during the June Council,” said High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, speaking to journalists after a meeting of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday.
Mogherini expressed the Council’s satisfaction over the Prespes Agrement’s coming into force, and said this will have a positive effect on the region and Europe as a whole.
Regarding the launch of North Macedonia’s negotiations for accession to the EU, Mogherini said that equally important with the Agreement are the country’s own efforts to press ahead with the necessary reforms. The country’s prime minister and foreign minister, she said, had both assured her of their commitment to the agenda of reforms.
