The scenario of early elections is highly unlikely, Tzanakopoulos says

“The scenario of early elections is highly unlikely,” government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Thursday in an interview with Real FM.
Tzanakopoulos cleared out that the government has the confidence of the parliament and this will continue until the end of the four-year term. The prime minister has already said, according to Tzanakopoulos, that if the Independent Greeks (ANEL) decide to lift the confidence to the government, then each deputy, despite his political origin, will be called to assume his responsibilities at this critical juncture for the country.
He explained that the Constitution does require 151 deputies but he added, in the “unlikely scenario” that an absolute majority of all MPs is not reached, then “for political rather than constitutional reasons, we are obliged to lead the country, coordinated and in due course, to elections.”
Tzanakopoulos said that he cannot determine the time of the early elections, but stressed that “such a possibility is highly unlikely.”
Referring to the stance of Independent Greeks (ANEL) leader Panos Kammenos, he stressed that all the open issues will be discussed at the meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Friday. He noted that Kammenos’ disagreement is fully respected and reiterated his absolute conviction that “Kammenos and ANEL either intentionally or unintentionally will not rally with Mitsotakis’ electoral and political plans and tactics.”
