Government synomymous with “irregularity and transactions”, ND’s Spyraki says

The government is synonymous with irregularity and transactions, stated New Democracy (ND) spokesperson, Maria Spyraki, during her briefing to the press on Monday. She explained that the “151 MPs that gave vote of confidence to the government are not the same as those that voted for the Prespes Agreement”.

Referring to ND’s stance, she said that the party commits to monitoring the implementation of the Agreement and to do whatever possible to limit its repercussions on the economy and businesses in northern Greece. She also noted that ND pledges to block Skopje’s access to the European Union if it considers this harmful for national interests.

On the sub-minimum wage, Spyraki said that the government took it out of the drawer in an effort to ‘escape’ from the Prespes Agreement, adding that it could have been voted on in September but the government waited to first ratify the Prespes Agreement in parliament.

Asked about Greece’s bid to tap the markets, which was announced on Monday, Spyraki said that the question was whether the planned exit was “real or symbolic”.
