Political confrontation should not be deadlocked into a climate of extreme polarisation, says ND’s Koumoutsakos

Political confrontation should not be deadlocked into a climate of extreme polarisation , and extremist statements or charges for treason should be avoided, main opposition New Democracy (ND) foreign shadow minister George Koumoutsakos said that in his statements to radio 24/7 on Thursday, underlining that he does not adopt every ND member’s expressions.

“The responsibility for the derailment of public discourse lies with the government,” he said, adding that “I do not adopt whatever is said by ND in its confrontation with the government. I am moderate and work towards national unity. I say Yes to political confrontation, I say Yes to forceful arguments, but I say No to extremist statements. If we get into the logic of seeking traitors then we will destroy the country once again.”
