Greek commerce optimistic over shopping trends in holiday season: The second Monday of January the sales

Greek commerce sector officials expressed their optimism over business trends in the Christmas and New Year shopping period.

Nikos Koyoumtsis, second vice-president of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen, in comments made on Thursday said that the holiday shopping period began rather slow with the November sales period when business was down 10 pct, followed by a revival of the market during the Black Friday week and a gradual increase in business in December which climaxed in the pre-Christmas shopping period.

Consumers will be able to enjoy lower product prices with the beginning of the winter sales season, starting in the second Monday of January and lasting until the end of February.
