Revision of Constitution will trigger debate with many different opinions, Tzanakopoulos says

Government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos characterised the revision of the Constitution the country’s Charter which is expected to trigger “a debate with many different opinions” adding that SYRIZA has carried out a laborious procedure which led to a proposal that included “mature demands and mature changes in the constitution that are taking into account the experience of the memoranda and of the country’s bankruptcy” in an interview with public broadcaster ERT on Saturday.

On the Greek-Turkish relations and the extension of the territorial waters, Tzanakopoulos said that “it is Greece’s right and we will not ask anyone to apply it”.

Asked to comment Ankara’s intentions on the co-exploitation of Cyprus’ resources, Tzanakopoulos said that “Turkey can do whatever it wants in its territorial waters” but it has no right to interfere to EU member states’ territorial waters adding that “we will defend ours and any other EU member state’s sovereignty rights”.

Referring to the government’s cohesion regarding the Prespes Agreement, he said that Panos Kammenos (Independent Greeks leader that participates in SYRIZA’s coalition government) will not align with New Democracy or with the extreme right to overthrow the government, noting that even if the Independent Greeks withdraw from the government this will not shift the balance and the government will conclude its term.
