Exit from programme an opportunity to plan the future on a more stable basis, says Dragasakis

Greece’s exit from the programme and surveillance coincides with a growing uncertainty and tension in many parts of the world. That is why the exit from the programme offers an opportunity to everyone, both the government and society, to plan the future on a more stable basis, government Vice President and Minister of Economy and Development Yiannis Dragasakis said on Tuesday during the presentation of the ministry’s plans.

The economy is recovering and is now on a firm footing, the fiscal position is stable, debt is under control, and the cash buffer gives Greece protection, he added.

“In our planning, we must incorporate the lessons of the past,” noted Dragasakis, stressing that reforms should continue and intensify but must not be reforms imposing austerity but reforms that reduce inequality and boost growth.
