“We support the Prespes agreement but not the government” states Stavros Theodorakis

“In politics, as in other areas of life, solutions are not just good or bad. We are often forced to make unpleasant choices,” the leader of the Potami party, Stavros Theodorakis, said on Tuesday in an interview with Star TV, in reference to the Prespes Agreement.

While this was an agreement “that has several points that should have been different,” Theodorakis noted, the country must resolve the problem on its northern border so that it can give the required attention to the problems on its eastern borders.

He also clarified, once again, that Potami’s support for the agreement does not mean support for the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government but support for Greece.

“Potami is not involved in scenarios of support for the government, whether these concerns a vote of confidence or anything else. This does not exist for us. There are unanimous decisions by the party’s organs that we will not support the SYRIZA-ANEL government. Whether we will agree on a bill that concerns social rights or on an issue concerning regional or foreign policy is something different and it is something that we must get used to doing in the country’s European course,” he added.
