Kyriakos Mitsotakis slams government over the state of the economy adressing EU diplomats

New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis criticized the current state of the economy and outlined the main opposition’s program during a working brunch for EU member-states’ diplomatic representations in Athens.
The event was hosted at the Austrian ambassador’s residence.

Mitsotakis criticized the government for what he called the “ irrefutable proof of the bailout memorandum’s failure” signed by Prime Minister proven, he said, by the country’s inability to access international markets after the formal completion of the fiscal adjustment program.

He also criticized the government’s excessive taxation that affected young couples’ decision to have a family, and its divisive rhetoric, “ which includes personal attacks,” as well as the situation at Greece’s migrant and refugee hotspots.

Asked when he thought national elections might be held, the ND leader said elections will be held by May 2019 the latest.
