Greece will to attract a total of more than 32 million tourists in 2018, says minister Elena Kountoura

Greece is expected to attract more than 32 million tourists in 2018, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said at the “Blue Flags” annual meeting organised by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, the municipality of Zakynthos and the island’s hoteliers.

“Revenue has double-digit growth, about 17 pct compared with 2017, so tourism is the economic power of our country, and we have to protect it and work hard,” he said.

Regarding the Blue Flags, she said that everyone must make an effort so that each region acquires as many blue flags as possible in each region.

Greece currently ranks second in the world for the highest number of Blue Flags, with 519 blue-flag Greek beaches and 15 marinas, and “we can easily become first,” Kountoura said.
