The increase of minimum wage is government’s main concern, Achtsioglou says

“The increase of the minimum wage is the government’s main concern,” Labour Minister Efi Achtsioglou said in an interview with Real FM on Wednesday.

“The social security system,” she said, “is standing on his feet, the EFKA surplus is very strong and there is no budgetary imbalance or future sustainability problem.”
“The country’s pension expenditure is very close to the European average. I believe that political support has been developed at European level in order to avoid further burden on pensioners,” she said.
She also added that “the outcome of the debates will be reflected in the 2019 budget, which will be submitted to Parliament in October. We have shown that this government is honestly doing everything in its power to support retired people, such as the return of unlawfully withheld health contributions at the end of 2017 and the distribution of dividends to low-income pensioners.”
