Retail shops to stay open this Sunday throughout the country, as summer sales period arrives

Retail shops throughout Greece can stay open from 11:00 until 18:00 this Sunday, which is the first of the summer sales period, at the discretion of the owners.
According to the retailers association SELPE, for items that are on sale, retailers are obliged to display both the sale price and the original price, while they may also provide the percentage discount given. If more than 60 pct of the goods on offer are also on sale, the percentage discount or range of discounts must be displayed in the shop window and other communication with customers.
Shop keepers must also be in a position to prove that the “old price” listed reflects reality.
