Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi congratulated Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his FYROM counterpart, Zoran Zaev, on the agreement they signed in Prespes on Sunday.

“A brilliant day for the Balkans and Europe. Congratulations to Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev,” the Italian prime minister posted on Twitter.

On his part, the Italian Foreign Minister said: “On behalf of the Italian Government, I warmly congratulate Prime Ministers Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev and Ministers Nikos Kotzias and Nikola Dimitrov. Today’s signature on the name issue, between Athens and Skopje, is a step of historic significance for strengthening regional cooperation, stability and prosperity in the region, as well as the course of European integration in the Western Balkans. Three objectives that Italy supports and considers to be a priority for the whole of the continent.”
