PM Tsipras at Economist conference: Greece a champion in reforms

Greece can count itself among countries that are champions of reforms and is now part of a solution rather than a problem, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Friday, addressing an Economist conference.

“Greece is now among countries counted as champions in reforms. Our partners are no longer doubtful of us and convey to all that Greece is another country today – it’s not part of the problem, it’s part of the solution, a model country,” Tsipras said, adding that this positive trend was visible in the real economy also.
“A favorable wind blows in Greece, bringing renewal, optimism and revival,” he said.

The premier referred to the recent agreement with FYROM on the name issue, and on the benefits this will bring to Greece. The long-term issue “denied Greece the opportunity to create strong ties of economic cooperation and development with the neighboring country, and to play the leadership role it deserves in the greater Balkan area,” he said.
“Greece is no longer a country with a sick economy that is constantly losing its international underpinnings,” but a country with a reviving economy and new friends and allies on the global stage.
