Mitsotakis slams government fical policy: “We work for 198 days a year just to pay taxes”

In 2019, Greeks will need to work for 198 days out of the year just to pay their taxes and contributions under the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government, a video uploaded by New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on his Facebook account said on Tuesday.

The video, with text superimposed on images, underlines that ND will reduce taxes. Specifically, it says it will reduce business taxes to 20% (from 29%), the property tax (ENFIA) by 30%, VAT for restaurants, food establishments and tourism to 11%, and the starting income tax rate to 9%. “We Greeks deserve better,” it says.

Mitsotakis is heard on the video reiterating he will reduce taxes and contributions, while the caption on the Facebook post says, “We work for 198 out of 365 days this year just to pay the taxes of (PM and SYRIZA leader Alexis) Tsipras and (National Defense and ANEL leader Panos) Kammenos. How much longer will we be paying them?”
