It is important that Greece will be the last to ratify the agreement, said Nikos Pappas

Digital Policy, Media and Telecommunications Minister Nikos Pappas in an interview with Epsilon TV on Thursday accused New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis of going counter to the policy of his father and other politicians who had attempted to solve the FYROM name issue.

It is important that Greece will be the last to ratify the agreement, having the final say on whether the things agreed have been fulfilled, and this is what was won during the negotiations, Pappas underlined and added: “We have no reason to fear our northern neighbour. We are the strong player and we have to consider things calmly.”

The minister also said that there was no reason to hold a referendum on the agreement in Greece.

Regarding ND’s attitude and the possibility of tabling a motion of censure, Pappas said that he did not think the main opposition was trying to overthrow the government and predicted that the debate in Parliament (after a motion of censure) would be very interesting.
