Fofi Gennimata meets Juncker, discuss Greece’s exit from the financial support programme

The Greek economy and Greece’s role in the Balkans dominated a meeting between European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the president of the Greek opposition Movement of Change party Fofi Gennimata on Tuesday in Brussels.

According to European sources, Juncker and Gennimata exchanged views on Greece’s economic and social prospects, two days before the crucial Eurogroup meeting that will discuss the conclusion of the Greek programme.

Both sides agreed that it is important that all the political forces get involved in a constructive way with the new strategy for Greece’s future growth.

Juncker underlined that the Commission will continue to support Greece in its next steps.
Moreover, the same sources said that Gennimata and Juncker discussed Greece’s role as a pole of stability and cooperation in the region of the western Balkans and in light of the Greece-FYROM agreement on the name.
