Almost 1 billion euros of deposits placed by the private sector, Bank of Greece announces




In May 2018, deposits placed by the private sector increased by 919 million euros, compared with an increase of 870 million euros in the previous month and the annual growth rate stood at 7.4 pct from 7.2 pct in the previous month, according to the Bank of Greece.

In the same period, corporate deposits increased by 580 million euros, compared with an increase of 866 million euros in the previous month and the annual growth rate stood at 13.1 pct from 14.9 pct in the previous month. In particular, deposits from non-financial corporations increased by 747 million euros, against an increase of 120 million euros in the previous month, while deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased by 167 million euros, in May 2018, compared with an increase of 746 million euros in the previous month.

Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by 339 million euros, compared with an increase of 4 million euros in the previous month and the annual growth rate stood at 6.2 pct from 5.6 pct in the previous month.

The monthly net flow of credit to corporations was negative at 169 million euros, compared with a negative net flow of 1,010 million euros in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -1.6 pct from -1.8 pct in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -1.9 pct, unchanged from the previous month and the monthly net flow of credit was negative at 135 million euros, against a negative net flow of 731 million euros in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at 1.7 pct from 0.4 pct in the previous month and the monthly net flow was negative at 34 million euros, compared with a negative net flow of 278 million euros in the previous month.

The annual growth rate of credit to the private sector stood at -1.9 pct, unchanged from the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit to the private sector was negative at 279 million euros, compared with a negative net flow of 1,167 million euros in the previous month.
The monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative at 6 million euros, compared with a positive net flow of 6 million euros in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -1.5 oct from -0.9 pct in the previous month.

The monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative at 104 million euros, compared with a negative net flow of 164 million euros in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.2 pct from -2.3 pct in the previous month.
