“The fascist serpent is hatching” warns State Minister about the attack on Mayor Boutaris

“It is clear, there are millions of signs, that the fascist serpent is hatching – if it has not already hatched – and I believe that this is especially acute in Thessaloniki,” State Minister Christophoros Vernardakis said on Tuesday.
The minister was talking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM about the assault on Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris the previous Saturday.
“What happened the other day,” the minister added, “takes us back to the interwar period.”
Asked about planned government policies after the conclusion of the fiscal adjustment programme in August, Vernardakis said: “Exiting the programme and having acquired important fiscal room, we will be able to follow specific policies against austerity. What will follow is the strengthening of the social rights of workers and pensioners in a framework of policies that will start to unfold after September.”
